Payment standard migration
MacPay+ complies with the ISO 20022 standard
MacPay+ complies with the ISO 20022 standard
The Swiss financial community has completed the first part of its transition to the new ISO 20022 standard. All payment transfers to banks are now made through files in pain.001 (xml) format.
The transition to ISO 20022 now paves the way for the modernization of the payment slip system as we know it. The QR invoice, which, as its name suggests, contains a QR code instead of the current line of code, will gradually replace all bulletins as of June 2020. MacPay+ will support the QR Invoice as soon as it is introduced without having to change the current PDF scanners.
The QR invoice will simplify the entry interface (only one possible bulletin) and secure the scan because the QR code contains all the payment and recipient information unlike the current coding line. The invoice QR represents the first visible change in the ISO 20022 transition for the user and MacPay+ will make the best use of it to improve input comfort and speed.
In June 2018, the first part of the ISO 20022 migration was completed with the definitive abolition of DTA transfers. However, the most important changes are in the information that banks deliver to their customers in computerised form. The ISO standard introduces the notion of status (pain.002) which will allow to display in MacPay+ an updated status of the payment made (error, rejections, execution, etc.) and camt format statements that will replace the MT940 files currently processed. ISO 20022 also introduces a payment identifier that MacPay+ can use to link the different elements of its interface.
The changes are very important in terms of architecture and require a partial redesign of the software interface to be used optimally. For example, it will become possible thanks to the unique payment identifier introduced by ISO 20022 to create a direct link in MacPay+ between the paid invoice, the account statement and the e-document concerned.
The banks themselves are not yet fully clear about the information they will transmit and how it will be structured. MacPay+ must now wait for some stabilization from the banks before making the big changes that will not really be visible in MacPay+ until the end of 2019.
